Mighty Melody Miracle Marathon

Mighty Melody Miracle Marathon - A Birth Day Celebration

Can you belive that Melody will soon be 1? What a blessed miracle this little girl is. I so miss my friend, Lois (Melody's Mom) who passed away is past October but each time new pictures of Melody is posted I say a piece of Lois is still with us and I am so thankful for this.  Lois was a young women full of life. She was passionate about life and living. I see that spunkiness in Melody's eyes. Though Melody has some challanges facing her, I know that she is a survivor.

Melody today with her Grandma;)
If you find it in your heart to donate to her, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you can't afford anything, just say a little prayer for her. She is so loved!

Fish with Herbed Bread Crumbs Healthy Style:)

I love Fish & Chips don’t you? I do not need any extra fat in my diet. Living in the Mid West does have its advantages because there are plenty of BQ restaurants here but try finding a decent Fish & Chip restaurants and it becomes slim pickins. So I was thrilled when I ran a crossed this recipe that not only is low in fat, but is tasty too.

This is one of my favorite fish recipes. It tastes just as good as any fish and chips I’ve ever had. This recipe was taken from “Eat This Not That”.

Fish with Herbed Bread Crumbs

2 slices white bread or 1 English muffin split

2 TBS chopped fresh parsley

1 tsp fresh thyme leaves

4 halibut fillets or other flaky white fish (4-6 oz each)

2 TBS butter

Salt & Pepper

How to make it:

Preheat the oven to 450F. Place the bread, parsley and the thyme in a food processor and pulse until you have small but not super fine crumbs. You want a bit of texture here.

Lay the fish on a baking sheet and season all over with salt & pepper. Smear the tops with a thin layer of softened butter then press the herbed bread crumbs into the butter so that they adhere to the fish.

Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through the flakes with gentle pressure from your finger.

Makes 4 servings (Cost per serving $4.00)

Wondering how to make Red Diamond Tea? Try this

My husband loves Red Label Sweet Tea. He has been drinking about a gallon a week. I have been somewhat concerned mostly because it is so sweet. So after a few trial and errors I believe that I have actually come up with a recipe for it.

First of all, I only use Louisiana tea bags. This being said here is what I do:

16 small tea bags or 3 family size ones

Fill up a saucepan half full with water and place the tea bags in the water. Bring this to a boil. When it looks fairly strong, I remove the tea bags then stir in 1 cup of sugar. Pour this into that Red Label gallon jug and fill up rest of the way with cold water. Place in the refrigerator.

In addition to being able to cut back on the empty calories we are saving a bit of money making it at home. Honestly it doesn’t take long to put together.

Let me know what you think...

Just Gotta Share....Smoky Sausage and Lentil Stew

Made this wondering if it would taste good. It was wonderful and though I have only made this once, I will be making it again.

Smoky Sausage and Lentil Stew

2 links (about 4 ounces each) spicy low-fat turkey Italian sausage, removed from casing

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon mustard powder

6 cups low-sodium chicken broth

1 cup water

1 ½ cups dried brown lentil

Brown the sausage in a 4 quart saucepan over medium high heat

Cook sausage until no longer pink.

Add the onion and bell pepper and cook for 1 minute or longer but do not allow the garlic to brown.

Add tomatoes, oregano, mustard powder, broth, water and lentils and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes or until the lentils are almost tender, thinning with more water if the soup is too thick.

Creamy Hummus - Tastes wonderful

Looking for something different to eat

Here is a tried and true good tasting healthy recipe.  It was taken from “The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start" book.

This is a Middle Eastern spread that tastes good on a lot of things. Their suggestion is to boil up some eggs, remove the Yoke and put a Tablespoon in its place. The eggs were yummy and in fact I had forgotten just how much I really like hummus as a roll up spread.

Try it; let me know what you think.

CREAMY HUMMUS

2 (15ounce) canned Chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1/2Cup warm water

3 Tablespoons Lime juice

1 ½ teaspoon Cumin

1 Tablespoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon salt

Place the chickpeas, water, lime juice, cumin, and garlic in a food processor. Process for about 4 minutes, or until very smooth.

"He who enjoys good health is rich, though he knows it not." Italian Proverb

"He who enjoys good health is rich, though he knows it not." Italian Proverb
Have you ever been just living your life knowing in the back of your mind that you “Need” to be doing something differently but for whatever reason you just never get around to it?  Or when you are about to take that first step, something happens to distract you and you end up getting sidetracked?

Two weeks ago, after the loss of our pet I felt lost. In an attempt to carry on, I found myself focusing on those “Back Burner” things that I needed to do for myself- including resuming making a weekly menu planning then I really got ambitious and made myself an old-fashioned Checklist  (like a “To-Do” List)

This week felt like that “Road Block” in life finally lifted. I not only was able to follow my food plan, but I walked three times this week AND took the time to stretch out my body each night before going to bed. It has been a wonderful week here.

I guess sometimes we just have to take it one day at a time, and then sometime I find myself taking one hour at a time. If only every week could be as easy and straight forward as this one.

I am going to start sharing some healthy yummy tasting recipes with you, so stay tuned.

Thanks for reading.

Dedicated to White Cat & KC

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. "

(Anatole France)

One summer day fifteen years ago I met a cat whom I called White cat (for obvious reasons). I knew at some point she had been a member of someone’s family. She came to me “Meowing” nonstop. She was lost. She lived out in the field behind my house. I desperately tried to find her owner without any luck. As the season’s changed she became less vocal. Then when winter was in the wind, I finally couldn’t take it any longer and brought her inside our home. Taking her to the vet, making sure she didn’t have fleas, etc. During our first year together she would follow me all over our house.  She was the boss of the family. I turned into her “Person”. Oh how we loved one another.

Then a couple years later, a small tiny kitten joined our family. We lovingly named her K.C. K.C. was a very loving quiet kitty. My daughter, and then my husband turned into her “People”

Over these past four years White Cat developed Liver & Kidney Disease. She did not want to leave us, and we didn’t want her to go.  Then one day, her body was weak and tired; I was faced with making that hard decision. But as they say, time heals the pain and over time, K.C. and I bonded. We have always loved one another, but this past year K.C. knew how much I missed my kitty and she would sit, and sleep on my lap too.

This past January I looked at K.C. she just didn’t look right so I took her to the vet. Her kidney levels were slightly high. I took her home and she had good days. Then two weeks ago, upon taking she to the vet to get checked out we discovered that she was very sick. It was cancer. Together my husband and I decided it was time for her to go be with White cat. This process has been one of the hardest things we have done. Today, our house is way too quiet. Currently we have decided to take a break from pets for awhile. Today has been a quiet, somber day for us.

Reflection is often a way to heal. I have come to learn some things both good and bad about my personality through the loss of my pets. I also have stepped back and looked at my pets’ live. Both of them had good long lives.

This afternoon I saw a thin, black cat that is missing one eye. My heart sank. I know that there are a lot of mice in the field. I just wish that all pets had “Their people” and were taken care of.

Thought I would share a beautiful poem I found for those of you who love your pets.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Where It All Began: And Where I Am Now

The following is where it all began for me. Currently I am two sizes smaller and feel 15 years younger. I haven't lost all of my extra pounds but at least I am going in the right direction. I still focus on eating healthy. Advocare is a key tool in my journey. What it does for me is helps me by giving me some control over my eating . I love Spark, MVS vitamins, the Meal Replacement Shakes actually everything. I hope that you will enjoy reading my story. I would love to hear from you.

In 2009, at the age of 55, I began to feel like the only thing that I had energy to do was to work 40 hours a week.

I knew that the food we eat was lacking in nutrition. I also knew that my waistline had done nothing but grown the past ten years. My obesity was starting to take its toll on my health.
Then a few months ago my sister-in-law Julie gave me some AdvoCare Spark to try. I could immediately felt more focused and energetic. It was like my body knew that there was something special about AdvoCare. It was amazing! In fact the longer I used the AdvoCare Spark the less I thought about having to have coffee, or reaching for the chocolate when I felt tired, and dragging. I stopped feeling like I needed to curl up and take a nap in the middle of the afternoon.
In March of 2011 during a visit with my sister-in-law Julie we sat down and talked about the other products that AdvoCare offers.

During this visit I made the decision to commit to the AdvoCare 24 day Challenge. I thought what’s a month, and besides it will give me an opportunity to “See if it works or not”. Little did I know this day would change my life? When I told Julie that I wanted to take the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge and she immediately got me on the phone with Kristy Atkinson. Both Julie and Kristy were very helpful at answering any questions that I had.

During this conversation Kristy told me that she is making a full time income on a part time basis and she has what I wanted – Time, Health, and Living Debt free.

Before I began, I made sure to weigh and measure myself. I wanted to see some “Proof”.
Within my first 90 days on AdvoCare I lost a total of 34.5 inches AND 10 pounds. I recently told my husband, the hardest part was just making up my mind to “Just do it!”
Here’s what I did:
I took the 24 Day Challenge and went to the Distributor level. Upon seeing my results and realizing how amazing the AdvoCare products are I made the decision that I will be using them for the rest of my life, so I moved to the top level and became an Advisor. I did this for two reasons: the best product discounts (40%) and to begin building a business. I believe in the integrity and vision of this company.

Where I am:
I am new to AdvoCare, so I am just starting on my business side. Currently I am telling my story to anyone and everyone who will listen. I love how my body feels since I began using them. I am building health minded friends through this company.
Where I am Going:
My goal is to  continue to grow my business.
I am looking to help others who want a life of financial freedom and who are passionate to change others lives.
If you are someone looking to feel better whether you are overweight, tired a lot of the time, or trying to become my physically fit I encourage you to try the AdvoCare products.
I am here to help you with any of the AdvoCare product and I can help you reach your financial goals.

There really isn’t anything hard about following the AdvoCare plan.
Products that I currently use:
Spark
Meal Replacement Shake
MSN Max C
Omegaplex
Catalyst

Staying Focused & Reaching Out for Help

Here we are close to the end of January. How are you doing? Have you made those New Year’s Resolutions and already broken them? Or maybe you haven’t even gotten started.

I gave up on making the ‘List” a couple of years ago and I adopted the “Just Do It” plan though somewhere I know that I have “The List”.  My last cleanse went fine, and I am back to my daily routine of taking my AdvoCare MNS 3 Vitamins, and using their Meal Replacement Shake each morning. I also am incorporating a few more tools that I would like to share.

First, I have joined a “Free” website called Calories Count. I find it fairly helpful, though I have really cut down on my computer time.

Second, my insurance company offers a “Health Coach” free of course and I am planning on taking advantage of this. We had our first over the phone appointment this morning. Mainly she will help me set those small goals to reach the long term goal, which for me is Good Health.

Third, I am starting to incorporate what exercise equipment I have at home. My plan is develop a routine that I can do on a regular basis.

Well, this is it for now; I would love to hear your comments. I know you are reading but it would be nice to have some feedback about my writing, and maybe you have some topics that you would like for me to address.

Take care of yourself,

Until next time.
